WE’VE GOT IT! MAIDENCOMBE NOW HAS A REGISTERED VILLAGE GREEN.
At a full Torbay Council meeting at the Riviera Centre this evening, councillors voted unanimously on registration of Maidencombe Village Green as a TVG, removing the pre-condition of transfer of the freehold to residents which had proved to be a major sticking point since the full council meeting of September 2013.
The motion was presented by David Thomas and seconded by councillor Neil Bent.
A lone Maidencomber, Jim Campbell, who attended the meeting, stood up and shouted ‘Thank you Mr Mayor!’ in recognition of his time and prodigious efforts to get the green protected for residents of Maidencombe.
The ‘short cut’ put together over two years ago by Carl Taylor and Jim Campbell requesting voluntary registration by the land owner, Torbay Council ultimately proved successful. The normal process of applying via form 44 to the Land Registry would have been held indefinitely by Torbay’s legal department.
More to follow on this historical moment for Maidencombers.
